A North Yorkshire jam maker that previously appeared on Dragons’ Den is overfunding following a successful launch of its crowdfunding campaign.
Fearne & Rosie produces a range of jams, honey and spreads, with its products listed in Waitrose, Ocado and Morrisons.
Its products are designed to be healthier than other sold by retails, and all contain about 70 per cent fruit.
The company appeared on BBC series Dragons’ Den last year. Founder Rachel Kettlewell secured an offer from Tej Lalvani before ultimately deciding not to proceed with the deal.
Kettlewell has subsequently partnered with food and drink industry specialist Giles Brook.
Fearne & Rosie launched a campaign on Seedrs earlier this week seeking £150,000 in funding with 9.18 per cent equity offered to investors. It surpassed its initial target within 24 hours and began overfunding, with more than £200,000 so far secured.
Rachel Kettlewell said: “The success of the business to date has been a whirlwind. Securing investment and support from the likes of Pip Murray and Giles Brook has been the cherry on top of an incredible start to our journey. And now to be able to say that we have gone over our fundraising target in just 24 hours is incredible and definitely beyond all of my expectations.”
The funding is set to be used for marketing and in-store activation, building its team, and for working capital to support its scale up.
Investors joining the latest funding round include Giles Brook (BEAR, Vita Coco, Innocent, Mindful Chef), Will Greenwood (former England Rugby international) and Pip Murray (founder of Pip & Nut).
Giles Brook said: “Every category needs a challenger brand led by an outstanding founder and Fearne & Rosie through Rachel is incredibly well placed to incrementally ignite the world of jam through her great tasting more fruit, less sugar products bringing consumers healthier, tastier and happier foods.
“The brand has made a jamtastic start across national and regional multiple and independent customers and the next chapter is berry exciting. We very much hope that you want to be a part of it.”
Will Greenwood added: “We need to provide healthier choices for families. We have a responsibility to ensure these products are accessible for all families and I’m berry excited to be a part of the Fearne & Rosie journey.”
Pip Murray added: “The jam category is ripe for disruption and Fearne & Rosie are perfectly positioned to take share.”
